The study and deep understanding of one's national history is the core of a specialist’s work in any field. It is a fundamentally important task in forming a base so that scientific and technological achievements are grounded in cultural sovereignty. This is always a value-based choice. And only a strong, comprehensive domestic education system can ensure the harmonious development of youth, as well as Russia’s ideological and technological leadership.
The Constitution of the Russian Federation enshrines the importance of preserving historical memory: "The Russian Federation honors the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland and ensures the protection of historical truth. Diminishing the significance of the people’s heroism in defending the Fatherland is not permitted.".
Today the joint scientific and historical research for ensuring technological sovereignty of Russia involves not only classical and pedagogical institutions but also scientific and technological ones, alongside sector-specific universities and research institutes. Conditions for studying domestic history and the foundations of Russian statehood have been created across all fields of study. An extensive factual database has been compiled, including digitised federal, regional and industry archives, enabling educators, scientists and students to elaborate history courses tailored to specific educational profiles and to design individual sociohistorical projects.
The joint development of this scientific field allows students and young researchers to immerse themselves in the history of relevant sciences through the lens of outstanding figures—our compatriots who have made significant contributions to their development. Examining the biographies of great Russian scientists, engineers, and inventors helps to understand how their discoveries and ideas have influenced the progress of science and technology. Furthermore, understanding scientific heritage and its evolution through the lens of specific individuals in a historical context not only enriches the educational process but also inspires students toward creativity and innovation, enabling future specialists to better grasp the significance of their profession and strive for achievements that will lead to new discoveries.

Equally important is the "Pedagogy of Times of Trial" project, which aims to conduct research and develop educational programs for studying, interpreting, and passing on to the younger generation the pedagogical experience gained by Soviet and Russian teachers during periods of military, socio-political, and humanitarian crises. At its core is the idea that even in the most difficult historical periods and critical situations, it is education that saves the world and the individual. The work of teachers during the social and natural upheavals of the past and present centuries, and their aid and support for children under such conditions, represent unique examples of pedagogical dedication.
In 2025, the Sirius University of Science and Technology, on the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation, launched the master’s program "State Strategies for Preserving Historical Memory," aimed at forming a national scientific-pedagogical school of historical memory.
It is highly symbolic and important that this initiative was launched in the year marking the 80th anniversary of Victory, a time when we—drawing on our cultural code, our traditions, our language, our scientific journals, and our history—are shaping those who today and tomorrow will advance scientific fields of fundamental importance to us all. In this way, we are responding to the global ideological crisis by advancing education, strengthening our sociocultural identity, and expanding our capacity to look beyond the horizon.
